2018-19 A Few Notes

Your child was sent home with a welcome letter from me to you. Below you will find a few more bits of information I want to make you aware of:
  • I attend weekly mass on Sundays at 8 a.m. There have been a few instances where mass runs over one hour and I am a few minutes late to class. Because I believe reading scripture and celebrating the Eucharist are some of the best ways to continue to grow in our Catholic faith, I will never leave mass early.
  • Please be respectful of my time as much as I am of yours and that of your student. Plan your time accordingly so that your child is picked-up by 10:25 a.m. at the latest.
  • Please be sure that your child understands the rules they agreed to during registration!
    • Showing respect for others and the space
    • No chewing gum
    • No electronics, including cellphones
    • Adhering to the dress code
    • If your child misses a class the materials will be packaged for you to pick-up in the Parish Education Center (PEC) during Amanda's office hours, or by appointment. It is expected that they will have everything completed prior to their return at the next class.
    • If a student brings a friend to class, the students parent or guardian must accompany them to class to let me know in person (or Amanda) who the child is.
    • If someone other than the parent or guardians listed in the registration paperwork will be picking up a student there must be a signed note turned-in prior to the start of class.
    • The safety of the children in the Faith Formation program is one of my biggest priorities. I will never allow your child out of the PEC without a designated adult coming inside to pick them up. This includes children going to mass after class. The parking lot is very hectic around 10:15-10:30 - children will never be permitted to simply meet you at your vehicle.
    • As a fellow parent of an elementary student, I know how busy they are with schoolwork and other activities. I will very rarely assign questions/worksheets for homework. I believe that Faith Formation can be supported by prayer, communication, and actions as a disciple of Jesus during the week.
